The Minister of Science Technology and Innovation Dr Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora has inaugurated the Nigeria Science Technology and Innovation Television (NSTI Tv).
At the inauguration, Dr Mamora said the TV will publicise scientific discoveries and exchange ideas for the benefit of the common man.
The Minister said the NSTI Tv, which uses terrestrial satellite and is internet based, would cover the entire landscape of Science Technology and innovation.
“The Tv will focus on Nigeria’s contribution to STI and showcase how our ancestors used science and technology in the use of drugs, and building houses”.
“This television station was introduced as part of the Implementation of the Presidential Executive Order No 5 to assist in establishing STI as part of everyday life of Nigerians towards achieving the national development goals across all sectors of the economy and to promote the vital role of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in National Economic Development (NED), particularly in the area of promoting Made in Nigeria Goods and Services (MNGS); which will ensure job creation for our teeming youth.”
The Director General of National Space Research Agency (NASRDA) Dr Halilu Shabba described NSTI Tv as a milestone for the agency and 25% local content was used in the establishment of the station.
The Nigeria Science, Technology and Innovation Television is located in NASRDA and will broadcast its programmes in Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and English.
