FG commences computer based test for public servants

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan has commenced the conduct of the 2022 Annual Public Service confirmation examination, nationwide, as a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Dr. Yemi-Esan who made this known during a monitoring tour to some of the CBT centers in Abuja said the development was in collaboration with the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board, JAMB, to phase out manual examination for mandatory Confirmation and Combined Confirmation/Promotion (COMPRO) Examinations for officers in the Federal Public Service.

The Head of the Civil Service, represented by the permanent Secretary Special Duties, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Faruk Yabo who said the CBT examination was part of the federal government strategic and implementation plan to promote the adoption of Information Communication Technology, ICT, in work processes, noted that the idea was aimed at promoting efficiency and transparency.

“It is worthy of note that this exercise is taking place concurrently at sixty-nine (69) JAMB centres across the 36 states of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while about thirteen thousand (13,000) officers from the core Civil Service, the Nigeria Police, and other Para-military and specialized Agencies are taking part in this year’s examinations. Accordingly, in line with global best practices, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has maintained that the Federal Civil Service must be transformed leveraging on ICT in all its activities and processes”, she said

The Registrar, JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, while commending the Head of the Civil Service for the initiative, promised to continue to collaboration with relevant agencies to improve the running of government businesses.

One of the civil servants who participated in the examination, Mr. Adeniyi Agbede described the exercise as seamless and devoid of technical hitch.
