The New Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun has pledged his commitment to “work assiduously” to ensure the victory of Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed in the 2023 elections.
Mr Osuntokun, during his first interactive session with the media in Abuja following his appointment, said various support groups would be given the “maximum attention” they deserve during the campaigns.
He said under his leadership, the Obi-Datti Campaign Council would mobilise the citizens for victory for all the party’s candidates in the 2023 elections.
The LP campaign DG reiterated the council’s commitment to “issue-based campaigns” devoid of “acrimony and hate speech”.
Asked about his membership of the Zenith Labour Party and his Senatorial ambition in Ekiti State, Mr Osuntokun said he had “abandoned” the aspiration for “a higher pursuit”.
He was reported to have been the senatorial Candidate of Zenith Labour Party in his state before his appointment as the DG of the LP Presidential Campaign Council.
He was appointed to his current post on December 27, replacing Dr Doyin Okupe, who had resigned.
